JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Jero Wacik, former Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) and key leader from President SBY’s Democratic Party, fails to be sworn in as one of new 560 lawmakers at the 2014-2019 House of Representatives (DPR) due to his status as graft suspect.
The Secretary General of the DPR Winantuningtyastiti has confirmed the cancelation after receiving confirmation letter from the General Election Commission (KPU).
Other than Jero Wacik, Winantuningtyastiti also revealed about four other elected lawmakers and two elected senators that also fail to be sworn in, also because of their status as graft suspects.
That 5 elected lawmakers are Idham Samawi (PDI-P), Herdian Koesnadi (PDI-P), Jimmy Demianus (PDI-P), Iqbal Wibisono (Golkar), Chaidir Djafar (elected senator from West Papua), and Zulkarnain Karim (elected senator from Bangka Belitung).
As reported earlier, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the KPU have asked President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to cancel the inauguration over elected lawmakers and senators with the status of graft suspects. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
