JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – About 560 new lawmakers at the House of Representatives (DPR) and 132 new senators at the Regional Representative Council (DPD) for the period of 2014-2019 will be sworn in in the parliament building this morning.

The inauguration ceremony starts at around 10.50 am of Jakarta time. According to the Secretary General of the General Election Commission (KPU) Arif Rahman Hakim, the ceremony costs Rp16 billion from the State budget.

The Secretary General of the DPR Winantuningtyastiti, meanwhile, revealed that her side has received a confirmation from the KPU about the cancelation of inauguration over five elected lawmakers due to their status as graft suspects.

The said lawmakers are, as reported by Kompas.com, Jero Wacik (Democratic Party), Idham Samawi (PDI-P), Herdian Koesnadi (PDI-P), Jimmy Demianus (PDI-P), and Iqbal Wibisono (Golkar).

The 2014-2019 DPR members consist of ten factions of political parties;

1) PDI-P with 109 seats or 19.46% from 560 total seats at the DPR
2) Golkar with 91 seats (16.25%)
3) Gerindra with 73 seats (13.04%)
4) Democratic Party with 61 seats (10.9%)
5) PAN with 48 seats (8.57%)
6) PKB with 47 seats (8.4%)
7) PKS with 40 seats (7.14%)
8) PPP with 39 seats (6.96%)
9) Nasdem with 36 seats (6.43%)
10) Hanura with 16 seats (2.85%)

Four factions of political parties are now affiliated to the coalition of President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. They are PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, and Hanura.

Five other factions, meanwhile, are now members of the opposition group of presidential losing candidate Prabowo Subianto. They are that known as the so-called the Red-and-White coalition comprises of Gerindra, Golkar, PKS, PAN, and PPP. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
