JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Long jumper Maria Natalia Londa breaks new Asia record in the women’s long jump final at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, on Monday (Sep. 29). She presents the third gold medal for Indonesia.

Maria won the gold medal after cleared 6.55 meters to break the previous record of 6.27 meters in the women’s long jump.

Maria said that she will fight to present another gold for Indonesia in women’s triple jump final on Wednesday (Oct. 1).

Maria’s gold has lifted Indonesia’s position from a distant 15th to 14th in the medal standing. Indonesia has collected three gold, four silver, and seven bronze medals.

China, meanwhile, is still superior on the top position with 112 gold medals. While the host South Korea is in the second position with 44 gold medals.

Indonesia has previously earned two gold medals from the country’s badminton team, presented by Greysia Polii-Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Hendra Setiawan-Mohammad Ahsan. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
