JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)’s investigator team has arrested Riau Governor Annas Maamun (74 years old) and eight other people on Thursday (September 25) in Cibubur, East Jakarta.
According to KPK’s Spokesperson Johan Budi SP, Annas Maamun along with eight other people were caught red handed in an alleged bribery transaction.
Johan, as quoted by Tempo, revealed Annas was alleged for receiving bribery money from a businessman. Johan added the investigator team seized billion of rupiah and dollar from Annas and that 8 people.
Tempo, based on its source at the KPK, also reported that Annas is alleged to deliver those bribe money to the law enforcer.
As reported earlier, the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) has kicked off an investigation into sexual assault allegation implicating Annas Maamun, who is also one of key leaders from Golkar Party.
Previously, father of the victim, Soemardhi Thaher, has filed a report to the Police against Annas for allegedly committing sexual assault to his daughter, WW (39 years old).
Soemardhi, who is also former member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), filed the report on August 27. The victim’s lawyer Elsa Syarief, meanwhile, revealed about another victim who yet files a report against Annas.
Commenting to the sexual assault allegation, the Spokesperson of Riau’s provincial administration Yoserizal Zen said that Annas denied the allegation over him and called the allegation as a defamation. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
