JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) allocates US$135 million for expanding its production capacity to 300,000 tons this year, from previous 225,000 tons.

Estimating the aluminium average price to reach US$2,250 per ton, Inalum could earn revenues of maximum US$675 million.

Currently Inalum only allocates 10% of total production for export. While domestic consumption for aluminium grows by 11% per year during the period of 2008-2013.

Last year, domestic consumption of aluminium totaled 845,380 tons while production reached 583,543 tons. Indonesia exported 162,750 tons of aluminium in 2013 and also imported 424,587 tons.
