JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Jero Wacik has not yet tendered his resignation to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) after being named as graft suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday (September 3).
Jero, key leader of Democratic Party, is allegedly involved in a number of graft cases related to several procurement projects in the ESDM Ministry.
In a press briefing on Wednesday evening (September 3), Jero explained that he will first meet the president to discuss about his legal status. Today, SBY is expected to return home from a two-days state visit in Singapore.
Julian Aldrin Pasha, SBY’s Spokesperson, said SBY, in his capacity as Chairman of Democratic Party, will hold a meeting with a number of Democratic Party’s key leaders to discuss the situation surrounding Jero Wacik’s case.
As reported earlier, the KPK named Jero as graft suspect for blackmailing and receiving cash money from, for example, state-run oil & gas company PT Pertamina related to the holiday bonuses, known locally as tunjangan hari raya (THR), to members and leaders of the House of Representatives (DPR) Energy Commission VII.
