JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), in his capacity as Chairman of Democratic Party, today (September 2) revealed his party’s decision to remain joining the so-called Red-and-White coalition. Democratic Party has early not firmly revealed its support to the Red-and-White Coalition.
This morning SBY held the meeting with six other members of the coalition at his private residence in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java.
Gerindra Party’s patron leader Prabowo Subianto and Golkar Party Chairman Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie, however, did not attend the meeting.
In a press briefing this morning, SBY said members of the coalition are committed to remain outside of Jokowi’s next ruling administration, to make sure a check and balance system works out for the next five years.
The Red-and-White coalition is currently comprises of seven political parties controlling 63.04% or 353 out of the total 560 seats at the House of Representatives (DPR).
The seven members of the coalition are Gerindra, Golkar, PKS, PAN, PPP, Democratic Party, and PBB.
While Jokowi’s next ruling coalition is only backed up by five political parties (PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, Hanura, and PKPI) which controls 207 parliament seats (36.96%). (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
