JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Jakarta Corruption Court has on Monday (September 1) sentenced Ratu Atut Chosiyah for four years in jail for committing a graft case related to post-election dispute.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) however will drag the non-active Banten Governor into the court, to charge Atut with another two cases.
KPK Deputy Chief Bambang Widjojanto told Detik.com on Tuesday (September 2) that 2 said cases are the graft case related to the procurement of medical equipments in Banten province and the money laundering case.
As reported earlier, panel of Judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court has on Monday (September 1) dropped a four years in prison to Atut as she was proven guilty of bribing Akil Mochtar, the disgraced former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and former Golkar lawmaker, related to the handling of post-election dispute of Lebak Regency.
The sentence is lighter than 10 years jail demanded by the KPK’s prosecutor team.
In addition, panel of judges presided by Matheus Samiadji also ordered Atut to pay Rp200 million in fine or to serve another additional five months jail term. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
