JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The new regulation for coal export would be implemented by October 1, 2014, not as scheduled for September 1, 2014, but no revision for the new regulation formulated by the trade ministry.
Under this new regulation, the coal miners (holders of contract of work and coal mining agreement of work (KK/PKP2B) are required to have status or license for export, or obliged to be listed as ‘registered exporters’ (ET).
ET can only be issued upon recommendations from energy and mineral resources ministry.
Meanwhile the petrochemical industry in the country will enter into the era of coal usage as raw material sources within next 5 years.
The country has low rank coal of around 4,000 gar, could be converted into methanol through some steps of processing, which is then used by plastic industry.
