JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Commission of Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has asked a permit from the Central Jakarta District Court to forcibly pick up Maj. Gen. (ret) Kivlan Zein for investigation further the kidnapping and the elimination of activists during 1997-1998 period.
As reported earlier, Kivlan had for third times refused to answer the call from the Komnas HAM.
Komnas HAM Commissioner Otto Nur Abdullah, as quoted by Detik.com on Monday (August 25), said the court will hopefully soon give the permit to Komnas HAM. Komnas HAM expects that the questioning over the former leader of Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad) would be held on September 17, 2014.
Kivlan is currently a politician from the United Development Party (PPP). He was member of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto’s campaign team.
Previously, in a discussion broadcasted by news station tvOne on April 28, 2014, Kivlan confessed that he knew who executed the 13 missing activists and the place their bodies were buried. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
