JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The outspoken Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama would take over the leadership of the capital city from Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who has just been overturned by the Constitutional Court as the President-elect of the Republic.

Ahok, as quoted by Detik.com on Friday (August 22), said Jokowi will tender his resignation as Jakarta Governor to the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD Jakarta) on August 25, 2014, the inauguration day of new members of the DPRD Jakarta.

Ahok, a Christian, would make a history as for first time the capital city of Jakarta is led by a Chinese Governor should Ahok would be sworn in as Jokowi’s successor.

Previously, the 48-year-old Gerindra Party politician revealed he would take 4 sectors as his priority of development if he was installed as governor.
