JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Karen Agustiawan had reportedly resigned from her post as president director of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina.

She is the first woman who leads Pertamina but now opts to be a lecture at Harvard University.

Dahlan Iskan, minister for state-owned enterprises, had confirmed that Karen had tendered her resignation letter which will be effective per October 1, 2014.

Karen had many times proposed her resignation from Pertamina but Dahlan did not respond as he prefers Karen to lead Pertamina.

Dahlan had also last week told to media that president director of state utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Nur Pamudji, had tendered his resignation letter.

PLN and Pertamina have recently dragged into a serious conflict prompting Pertamina to stop supplying diesel fuel to PLN’s power plants.

Dahlan said the government should take this case as the conflict is related to the fuel subsidy issue.

Dahlan prefers Ignatius Jonan, president director of state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia, to replace Nur Pamudji but Jonan is also reportedly promoted to becoma a minister by President Elect Joko “Jokowi”Widodo.

Media also predicts Karen Agustiawan might be promoted to be minister by Jokowi as she has successfully turned Pertamina into making the bigger profits. Pertamina booked net profit of US$3.07 billion in 2013, a record high.

Karen led Pertamina since 2009. Fortune magazine included Karen into 50 Most Powerful Woman for 2013. Under her management, Pertamina is also included into Fortune Global 500 Company List.
