JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended lower 0.24% at 5155 Thursday (August 14) as profit taking hit.

Bank Rakyat Indonesia fell 0.92%, BW Plantation lost 1.35%, Vale Indonesia dropped 3.05%, Lippo Karawaci shed 3.28%, Perusahaan Gas Negara slashed 1.68%, and Telkom down 1.08%.

Other losers were Adhi Karya (-1.26%), Multipolar (-3.05%), Visi Media (-2.1%), and Bumi Resources Mineral (-1.12%).

Among gainers were Alam Sutera (+1.83%), Jababeka (+2.58%), Global Mediacom (+1.1%), and Berau Coal (+1.79%).

Bank Indonesia decided to maintain its benchmark BI Rate at 7.5% as inflation is now on declining trend within the projection.

Investors also concern on the economic contraction in Japan and Germany.

Nymex’s crude oil inched down 0.09% to 97.50 per barrel while gold rose 0.15% to US$1,316.50 per ounce. The rupiah strengthened to Rp11,679 against the US dollar.
