JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) booked net profit of Rp12.34 trillion in first half of this year, soared 158% from Rp4.77 trillion from the same period of last year.

Operating revenues rose 25% to Rp145.1 trillion from previous Rp116.73 trillion. Sales of electricity grew by 19.7% to Rp85.7 trillion while government’s electricity subsidy jumped 31.8% to Rp57.7 trillion from earlier Rp43.8 trillion.

While fuel and lubricants expenses increased 27% to Rp83.96 trillion from Rp66.09 trillion in first half of 2013.

PLN also booked foreign exchange (forex) gain of Rp4.437 trillion, compared to forex gain Rp909.45 billion a year earlier.

Its assets totaled Rp613 trillion while liability amounted Rp466.3 trillion. PLN has cash and cash equivalent of Rp23.47 trillion.

Currently, PLN’s customers total 54 million.
