JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Chief of the National Police General Sutarman said the Police is ready to guard the trial of the presidential election results lawsuit started to be held on Wednesday (August 6) at the Constitutional Court building.

Talking to Kompas.com on Monday (August 4) at the National Police headquarters, General Sutarman said his office will deploy around 22,000 police officers at the Court’s building.

Sutarman also said that police has prepared a layered security inside the building.

As reported earlier, the losing presidential and vice presidential candidates Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa filed a lawsuit to challenge the results of the July 9 presidential election announced by the General Election Commission (KPU).

Prabowo-Hatta’s team even call for their supporters to attend and watch the trial.

The KPU, based on the results of the election, declared Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Jusuf Kalla as presidential and vice presidential elect as this pair won the election with 53.15% votes. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
