JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned two lawmakers from the Islamic-based United Development Party (PPP) along with their spouses for a questioning on Monday (July 21) related to further investigation into a graft case of the haj pilgrimage fund during 2012-2013 period.
The two PPP lawmakers questioned by KPK’s investigators are Irgan Chairul Mahfiz (Deputy Head of the House of Representatives Commission IX) and Reni Marlinawati (member of the House Commission X).
The KPK’s investigators also questioned Irgan’s wife, Wardatun N Soenjono, and Reni’s husband, Mochammad Amin.
They were questioned as witnesses for Suryadharma Ali, former Religious Minister and suspect in the case.
As reported earlier, KPK has named Suryadharma as suspect on May 22, 2014, which prompted Suryadharma to resign from his position as Religious Minister.
The KPK earlier also summoned Suryadharma’s wife, Wardatul Asriah, and Suryadharma’s son-in-law, Rendhika Dheniardy Harsono, as witnesses in the case. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
