JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court has sentenced Andi Alfian Mallarangeng, former Minister of Youth & Sports and former politician from President SBY’s Democratic Party, to four years in jail, lighter than the prosecutor’s demand of 10 years.
In a Friday’s (July 18) trial of the Hambalang Sports Center project scandal, panel of judges concluded that Andi has been proven guilty for committing corruption.
In addition, panel of judges led by Haswandi has ordered Andi to pay 200 million in fine or serving two additional months in jail.
There is no statement yet from both Andi and the prosecutor team on whether or not they would file an appeal against the verdict.
As reported earlier, the prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded to panel of judges to sentence Andi with 10 years jail term.
The prosecutor also demanded the panel of judges to order Andi to pay Rp300 million in fine or a six month imprisonment if he failed to pay the fine and to pay Rp2.5 billion in restitution to the state to cover the state losses. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
