JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Former Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Budi Mulya, who has been charged for abusing his power in the bailout of Bank Century, is facing his verdict trial on Wednesday (July 16) at the Jakarta Corruption Court.
The prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has demanded 17 years in prison for Budi. The KPK’s prosecutor team also demanded Budi to pay Rp800 million in fine or serving 8 months additional jail time.
The KPK’s prosecutor team charged Budi for violating Article 2 Paragraph 1 jo Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law No. 20/2001 jo Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 jo Article 64 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
Budi had also allegedly abused his power and violated Article 3 jo Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law jo Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the KUHP.
Interestingly, in the previous trial, the KPK’s prosecutor team mentioned that Budi has abused his power along with Boediono as Governor of Bank Indonesia (now Vice President of the Republic), Miranda Swaray Goeltom as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Siti CH Fadjrijah as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, the late Budi Rochadi as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Robert Tantular (former owner of Bank Century), and Hermanus Hasan Muslim (former CEO of Bank Century).
