JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended higher 1.25% at 4946 Tuesday (June 10) with late buying lifting the index.
Kalbe Farma jumped 4.05%, Telkom gained 2.23%, Bumi Resources rose 2.65%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia hiked 3.54%, Bank Negara Indonesia lifted 2.42%, and Astra International gained 2.42%.
Also, Bumi Resources Minerals surged 8.95% and Waskita Karya rose 3.08%.
Gains in regional markets also spurred buying sentiment in local stocks. On domestic front, investors are also looking at the political development.
President candidate Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and his running mate Jusuf Kalla are considered clear winners of last night’s first round of the presidential debates. Central bank is expected to make decision about its benchmark rate this week.
Some expect BI to maintain its benchmark rate despite downfall of rupiah in the past few weeks because inflation rate has been moving accordingto the central bank’s expectation.
Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.29% to US$104.71 per barrel while gold inched down 0.01% to US$1,253.80 per ounce. The rupiah weakened again to Rp11,806 against the US dollar.
