JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Golkar Party politician Tubagus Chaeri Wardana aka Wawan, suspect and brother of Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah, has been charged with 10 years jail time for bribing former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Akil Mochtar in the case related to the handling of Lebak regency post-election dispute.

In a trial held at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (May 26), the prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also charged Wawan to pay Rp250 million in fine which can be substituted with additional 3 months imprisonment.

As reported earlier, Wawan had been named as suspect in the bribery case related to the handling of Lebak regency post-election dispute. Three other suspects in the case are Ratu Atut Chosiyah, Akil Mochtar, and Susi Tur Andayani.

Other than that, Wawan had also been named as suspect in a money laundering case. KPK alleged Wawan’s illicit money was flown to several lawmakers and young female celebrities.
KPK had seized about 40 cars and one Harley Davidson’s motorcycle belonging or linked to Wawan, including from lawmaker and young female celebrities. KPK had also questioned young female celebrities among others Jennifer Dunn, Rebecca Rijman, Catherine Wilson, and Reni Yuliana. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
