JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Pretty much as predicted, Prabowo Subianto opted to welcome Hatta Rajasa as his running mate for entering the upcoming presidential election.
Prabowo, the presidential nominee of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerinda), and Hatta Rajasa, chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), have this afternoon (May 19) declared themselves as a pair of presidential and vice presidential candidates for July 9 presidential election.
The declaration was held at Rumah Polonia in Cipinang, East Jakarta. The pair is scheduled to register themselves to the General Election Commission (KPU) tomorrow (May 20).
Prabowo and Hatta will enter the race with support from a coalition of six political parties – Gerindra, PAN, PKS, PPP, Golkar, and PBB.
Prabowo and Hatta will compete with the pair of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Jusuf Kalla, supported by four political parties – PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, and Hanura.
Jokowi and Kalla pair has registered themselves at KPU this afternoon after declaring as a pair for president and vice president nominee. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
