JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Investors focus buying shares of coal miner PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), member of Bakrie Group, boosting the stock by 9.95 with over 95.36 million shares exchanged hands. Other Bakrie stocks were also focus of buying.

BUMI booked net profit of US$349 million in the first quarter of this year, against net loss of US$62.91 million in the same period of last year.

This, however, was attributable to US$747 million gain in divestment of 10% shares in Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) as part of debt restructuring with China Investment Corporation (CIC).

Investors are also betting on Bakrie stocks on hope Golkar’s intension to join the coalition with PDI-P would benefit Bakrie group’s business. Bakrie Group is controlled by Aburizal Bakrie, chairman of Golkar Party.

Along with BUMI, Energy Mega Persada jumped 6.32% with 144.118 million shares exchanged hands and Bakrie Sumatra Plantation surged 6% on 57 million traded shares. Borneo Lumbung Energi and Berau Coal also gained 2.61% and 2.46% respectively.
