JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa are scheduled to meet President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) at the State Palace Jakarta Tuesday (May 13) afternoon.
Hatta, who is also Chairman of PAN, explained that he will tender his resignation as Coordinating Minister for Economy to SBY in the meeting.
Hatta’s decision to resign from SBY’s cabinet and the fact that Prabowo, who is patron chief and presidential nominee from Gerindra Party, will accompanying Hatta in the meeting, has strengthening earlier speculation that Hatta and Prabowo will run together as pair candidate in July 9 presidential election.
As reported earlier, both leaders from Gerindra and PAN have strongly promoted about the possibility of pairing Prabowo and Hatta. Both parties also expected Democratic Party, led by SBY, to join the coalition.
Other than PAN, leaders from two other Muslim-based parties, PPP and PKS, have expressed their supports to Prabowo’s nomination. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
