JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – After more than a month-long drama that almost tore the United Development Party (PPP) apart, the top leaders of the party finally reconciliated to fully support the nomination of Prabowo Subianto, patron chief of Gerindra Party, as presidential candidate for July 9 presidential election.

The decision to support Prabowo’s nomination has been reached early Monday (May 12) at PPP’s second national leadership meeting (Rapimnas).

PPP is, then, the first political party to joining  Gerindra’s coalition.

As reported earlier, PPP Chairman Suryadharma Ali and Prabowo have declared a coalition between PPP and Gerindra to endorse Prabowo’s presidential nomination.

But that declaration triggered conflict within PPP party as some PPP’s figures revealed that they have not officially endorsed any presidential nominee. So, the declaration was only the decision of Suryadharma, instead of PPP party. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
