JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Lieutenant General (ret) Prabowo Subianto, patron chief and presidential nominee from Gerindra Party, had on Monday (May 4) held a meeting with Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie, Chairman and presidential nominee from Golkar Party, at Prabowo’s private residence in Bojong Koneng village, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java.

This is the second time of meeting. The first meeting was held at Ical’s private residence at Ki Mangunsarkoro street, Menteng, Central Jakarta, last week.

Speculation came to surface that the meetings likely aim to build a coalition between Gerindra and Golkar for the July 9 presidential election.

As reported earlier, both Prabowo and Ical are still struggling to get additional support from political parties for their presidential bid respectively.

Based on quick counts of legislative election, both Golkar and Gerindra join the Big Three of political parties with PDI-P.

But the votes of Golkar or Gerindra parties are not able to pass the presidential threshold of 25 percent of national votes or 20 percent of parliamentary seats. Golkar only secured around 15 percent popular votes, while Gerindra got around 12 percent popular votes. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
