JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Jakarta Corruption Court has sentenced Rudi Rubiandini, former Chief of the powerful Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (SKK Migas) for 7 years in jail, lighter than prosecutors’ demand of 10 years, for the bribery scandals at the SKK Migas.

On the Tuesday’s trial (April 29), panel of judges also ordered Rudi to pay Rp200 million in fine or to serve an additional three months in jail.

Panel of judges presided by Amin Ismanto said that Rudi has been found guilty for receiving bribe money from Widodo Ratanachaitong, President Commissioner of Singapore-based PT Kernel Oil, worth Sin$200,000 and US$900,000 delivered through Rudi’s aide and golf trainer, Deviardi.

According to panel of judges, Rudi also received bribe money from Artha President Director of PT Kaltim Parna Industri Meris Simbolon (US$522,500), former Deputy Chief of SKK Migas Yohanes Widjonarko (Sin$600,000), SKK Migas Deputy Gerhard Marteen Rumeser (US$200,000), and SKK Migas Division Chief of Supporting Operation (US$50,000).

Panel of judges also found Rudi guilty for committing money laundering act.

Interestingly, panel of judges, in their verdict, also mentioned that Rudi delivered US$200,000 cash money to Sutan Bhatoegana Siregar, lawmaker from President SBY’s Democratic Party and Head of the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VII (overseeing energy & mineral resources).
