JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Golkar Party and Hanura Party have not finalized the deal to form a coalition for July’s presidential election.
Hajriyanto Y. Thohari, an executive of Golkar, said both Golkar and Hanura are still in talks. He added Golkar is also in talk with PKS to endorse the nomination of Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie.
On the other side, Saleh Husin, an executive of Hanura, said his party will take a decision this weekend about the coalition with Golkar.
Previously, Saleh said Hanura wants to enter a coalition with political parties that have presidential nominee with biggest chance to win the election.
As reported earlier, Golkar is seeking additional support from other parties as Golkar’s votes is not enough to endorse Ical’s nomination.
According to quick counts of legislative election, Golkar came up as runner up behind PDI-P with only around 14-15 percent popular votes.
Furthermore, various surveys showed that Ical’s chance to win the election is slim since Ical’s electability rating is far below the astronomical electability rating of Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, presidential nominee from PDI-P. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
