JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Muhammad Yamin, a leader of group of supporters for Jakarta Governor and PDI-P presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo (52-year-old), claims that Jokowi prefers young figure to be his running mate for the July’s presidential election.
Yamin told Detik.com on Wednesday (April 23) that his group of suppoerters for Jokowi, called as the National Secretariat of Jokowi supporters (Seknas Jokowi), had Tuesday night (April 22) met Jokowi at Jokowi’s official resident.
Sidarto Danusubroto, PDI-P senior politician and Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), also attended the meeting and supports Jokowi’s preference to have young running mate.
Recently, the national media reported that PDI-P has reduced potential running mates for Jokowi to three names. They are former Vice President and former Golkar Party Chairman Jusuf Kalla (71-year-old), former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Mahfud MD (56-year-old), and former Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) Gen. (ret) Ryamizard Ryacudu (64-year-old).
PDI-P itself, meanwhile, has not yet revealed any names considered as Jokowi’s potential running mate. The party will just officially announce Jokowi’s running mate after May 5, 2014, the day the General Election Commission (KPU) announcing the results of its official counting of the legislative election.
