JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Fadli Zon, Deputy Chairman of Gerindra Party, revealed on Wednesday (April 23) that his party is now trying to build a coalition with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) to endorse the nomination of Prabowo Subianto in the July’s presidential election.

Fadli told Detik.com that Prabowo has intensified his communication with PKS patron chief, Hilmi Aminuddin, while Gerindra is still in talks with other parties such as PAN, PKB, and Golkar.

As reported earlier, Gerindra has secured a coalition with PPP. The coalition was declared by Prabowo along with PPP Chairman Suryadharma Ali last week. But internal conflict emerged since then.

The coalition of Gerindra and PPP itself will likely only get around 19 percent popular votes referred to quick counts of the legislative election.

So therefore, Prabowo still needs additional supports from other political parties to pass presidential threshold of 25 percent national votes or 20 percent parliamentary seats. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
