JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) inched down 0.06% to close flat at 4873 Wednesday (April 16). The index moved at range of 4870-4893.

Share markets made broad gains on Wednesday after China reported economic growth a touch above forecasts, a relief for investors who had feared a much weaker outcome, Reuters reported. Japan’s Nikkei jumped 3%.

In Jakarta bourse, investors aggressively collected shares of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) Tbk (BBTN) as the government has shown a strong signal to sell BBTN to PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI). BBTN jumped 10.63% to Rp1405 with over 48.2 million shares exchanged hands. While Bank Mandiri gained 2.31%.

Other gainers were Adaro Energy (+1.55%), Aneka Tambang (+1.36%), Bumi Resources (+5.39%), Bumi Resources Minerals (+5.07%), BW Plantation (+2.29%), London Sumatra (+3.25%), and Pakuwon Jati (+5.59%).

Among losers were Timah (-1.68%), Perusahaan Gas Negara (-2.78%), Matahari Putra Prima (-2.69%), Multipolar (-1.6%), and Wijaya Karya (-1.1%).

Nymex’s crude oil rose 0.84% to US$104.62 per barrel while gold inched down 0.05% to US$1,299.60 per ounce. The rupiah weakened to Rp11,438 against the US dollar.
