JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Prabowo Subianto, patron chief and presidential nominee from Gerindra Party, is expected to hold a meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who is also Chairman of Democratic Party, on Wednesday (April 16) in order to secure a coalition for the July’s presidential election.
Fadli Zon, Deputy Chairman of Gerindra, as quoted by Detik.com on Tuesday (April 15), disclosed the meeting of the two retired Army generals but was reluctant to reveal the place of meeting.
In a related progress, there is a rumor that Gerindra has secured a coalition with PAN to endorse the pairing of Prabowo and Hatta Rajasa. But until today, the news has not been officially confirmed. Both Gerindra and PAN, however, stated that they’re still in talks.
As reported earlier, Prabowo’s party, Gerindra, ends up in the third position with likely 11-12 percent popular votes referred to quick counts of the legislative election. Gerindra then needs to enter into a coalition to give the presidential ticket for Prabowo.
SBY’s Democratic Party, meanwhile, ends up in a distant fourth with 9-10 percent popular votes referred to quick counts of the legislative election. While PAN only secured 7 percent popular votes. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
