JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Jakarta Corruption Court has sentenced Izedrik Emir Moeis, PDI-P lawmaker and defendant in graft case of the Tarahan Steam Power (PLTU) project, for three years in prison, lighter than 4.5 years demanded by the prosecutors.
On Monday’s trial, panel of judges presided by Mathius Samiaji also fined Emir with Rp150 million. Failed to pay the fine, Emir would take additional three months of prison.
According to the panel of judges, Emir has proven guilty for receiving US$357,000 from the consortium of Alstom Power Inc (US) and Marubeni Inc (Japan) through PT Arta Nusantara Utama (ANU).
As reported earlier, the prosecutor team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded the court to drop 4.5 years jail term to Emir. KPK prosecutor team also charged Emir to pay 250 million in fines. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
