JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is expected to soon announce the running mate of its presidential hopeful, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, for the July’s presidential race.
PDI-P confirmed it through its official twitter account, @pdi_perjuangan.
Sidarto Danusubroto, meanwhile, revealed that his party will announce Jokowi’s running mate within the next few days, next week at the latest.
Sidarto, who is also Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), said that Jokowi and PDI-P have already considered some names. According to Sidarto, Jokowi himself will determine his running mate with the considerations from Megawati Soekarnoputri as Chairwoman and Patron Chief of PDI-P.
The results of various quick counts from several polling agencies show PDI-P as the winner of the legislative election with votes ranging from 19 percent to 20 percent.
The Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) estimated that PDI-P will get about 116 seats or 20.71 percent of 560 seats at the House of Representatives (DPR) which make PDI-P to be able to endorse their own presidential and vice presidential pair candidate.
Jokowi, meanhiwle, had cemented the perception on him as a demigod presidential candidate whereas various surveys showed that the astronomical approval rating from the Jakarta Governor is far away above his rivals such as Prabowo Subianto, Aburizal “Ical” Bakrie, Wiranto, etc. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
