JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – A boxing match in Kota Lama, Nabire, Papua province Indonesia ended up in a riot that kills 17 people, Detik.com reported.
The boxing match was performed at Kota Lama Stadion packed with around 1,500 supporters from both boxers in the Regency Cup Amateur Championship organized by Nabire Boxing Association.
Supporters of the defeated boxer reportedly instigated the riot in a protest against the referee’s decision to declare Alvius Rumkoren winner of the match.
Nabire Regent Isaias Douw was reportedly trapped in the riot.
