JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III (overseeing law and human rights) has rejected all of three Supreme Court Judge candidates proposed by the Judicial Commission.

Through the vote conducted on Tuesday (Feb. 4), the majority lawmakers at the House Commission III rejected the three candidates.

They are Suhardjono, Judge at the Makassar High Court; Anna Samiyati, Deputy Chief Justice of the Palu High Court; and Sunarto, Supervisory High Court Judge. Commenting to the the House’s decision, Judicial Commission Chief Suparman Marzuki said his institution is hard to find Supreme Court Judge candidates with good quality and integrity.

Judicial Commission Commissioner Imam Anshori Saleh added 50 candidates have applied their interests to be judges of Supreme Court. Alfon Kurnia Palma, Chairman of the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute Foundation (YLBHI), said many judges with good quality and integrity are not interested to apply for the judges of Supreme Court given the high cost of recruitment.
