JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Bambang Widjojanto, the Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), shared his view about the accountability issue on financing system that turns down the political party into the cartel practice.

He said, quoted by Koran Tempo, the unaccountability of the financing system played by the political party in Indonesia has turned political party into a cartel, then the financing would be only used for the interest of the parties’ leaders.

Bambang said the way to measure the integrity of political party is simple. “Just looking to how they (political parties) manage their funds.. Now tell me, which political party that have a good financing system?” said Bambang, in a discussion held on Tuesday (Jan. 28).

“The most horrible is that the political party are heading into a cartel,” he said, noting the political parties in Indonesia do not have a systematic recruitment and regeneration, resulting in high rampant political transaction within the political party.

The fact now is many politicians have been declared as suspects of many scandals such as graft, bribery and money laundering.

KPK is also trying to find evidences connecting funds, collected from graft, bribery, and money laundering, to the political financing of political parties. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
