JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Tri Rismaharini, the Mayor of Surabaya, has filed a report to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) about allegations of graft practices in the management of the Surabaya Zoo (KBS), East Java.
On Monday (Jan 20), the Surabaya Mayor visited the KPK’s office in Kuningan, South Jakarta. Risma had also submitted documents and evidences needed by KPK to revealing the case.
Risma, however, has not revealed yet the names alleged to have been involved in the graft scandal at the KBS.
As earlier reported, Risma expressed her anger over the barter practices between hundreds of animals of the KBS with other animals or money, vehicles, etc.
Risma founds that 483 animals of the KBS have been bartered by acting management of the KBS. She stressed out to the controversial barter of 39 animals of the KBS with a Honda Innova car and a Honda motorcycle. She also mentioned about the barter of 49 animals with Rp640 million cash money.
The KBS itself has been under spotlight of both local and international readers especially after a death lion found hanging in its cage. International media even called the KBS as “The Death Zoo”. While the autopsy results from the controversial death of the lion concluded that the lion was snared by the rope that left severe wounds on its neck and left him dead. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
