JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President SBY’s Democratic Party has recalled Gede Pasek Suardika from the House of Representatives (DPR), dismissing him from the membership of the party.
The decision to dismiss Gede Pasek from the party’s membership has been made early this week. Max Sopacua, Deputy Chairman of Democratic Party has confirmed the dismissal.
Furthermore, on Jan. 13, 2014, the Democratic Party has sent a letter to the Secretariat General of the DPR about the recall of Gede Pasek from the DPR due to ethical violation. However, there is no detail explanation from the party about the ethical violation committed by Gede Pasek. The party hasn’t also yet revealed new name to replace Gede Pasek as member of DPR.
Gede Pasek, meanwhile, questioned the dismissal. He even stated that he will take a legal process to challenge the dismissal after he read carefully the dismissal letter.
“Where’s of my action or attitude that turning down the electability (of the Democratic Party) which made Pak SBY felt became backstabbed from behind? Let’s check my performances at the DPR, which one is more active, is it me or his closest person?” Asked Gede Pasek furiously, as quoted by Detik.com on Friday (Jan. 17).
Gede Pasek currently serves as Secretary General of the PPI (Indonesian Movement Organization), founded by the ousted Chairman of Democratic Party Anas Urbaningrum as a tool for his loyalists.
Previously, Democratic Party had dismissed Gede Pasek from his position as Head of the House Commission III (overseeing law and human rights affairs) and removed him to the House Commission IX (overseeing labor, health, and demography affairs). The party then appointed Pieter C Zulkifli Simabuea to replace Gede Pasek to lead the House Commission III. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
