JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Waryono Karno, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM), has been named as graft suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the scandal at the powerful Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (SKK Migas).
In a press briefing Thursday (Jan 16), KPK’s Spokesperson Johan Budi Sapto Prabowo explained that Waryono Karno is alleged of receiving gratification, violating article 12 letter b and or article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law No. 31/1999 already amended with Law No. 20/2001.
Johan, however, did not reveal about what kind of gratification received by Waryono. He also has not revealed yet the source of US$200,000 fund seized by KPK. The fund was stashed at Waryono’s office in August 2013.
As reported earlier, KPK has repeatedly summoned and examined Waryono Karno. KPK has also asked the Immigration Office to impose overseas travel ban on Waryono. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
