JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Indonesian Network Television Broadcasting Association (ATVLI) will again protest new regulation (Reg No 32/2013) about digital television broadcasting issued by Ministry of information and communication (Kemkominfo) on December 27, 2013.
Minister of information and communication Tifatul Sembiring, politician from Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), has issued new regulation to replace Reg No 22/2011, which was annulled by the Supreme Court following protest from various groups.
“We view that this new regulation is only a kind of wearing a new dress by the old commander (read as old regulation), as the principle of both regulations is remain similar,” Jimmy Silalahi, executive director of ATVLI, told Investor Daily.
“Kemkominfo is not serious on responding the decision made by the Supreme Court. We might not appeal again to Supreme Court, but we can do such a biggest effort than that.”
Jimmy revealed that the association does not reject TV digital program, but it does not agree with the government’s option to adopt multiplexing selection system which disadvantages local digital television owners who have developed an analog system.
“We want, as happen in Japan, the analog television broadcasting can be migrated into digital television if the intrastructure was ready and local digital television owners are not required to rent canals from owners of multiplexing canal.” he explained.
