JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended down 0.86% at 4195 Friday (Dec 20) while regional markets closed mixed.
Investors focused selling shares in giant coal Bumi Resources Tbk and stocks related to Bakrie Group. BUMI dropped 8.96% to Rp305 with 96.83 million shares exchanged hands. Borneo Lumbung Energy shed 6.6%, Bumi Resources Minerals (BRMS) lost 8.37%, and Berau Coal fell 3.6%.
Shareholders of BUMI hold extraordinary general meeting today for making decision on BUMI’s management proposal to convert BUMI’s shares in Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and BRMS into debts to China Investment Corporation (CIC) and to buy KPK shares from Kutai Timur Sejahtera.
Also falling were Aneka Tambang (-8.77%), Alam Sutera (-4.44%), Bank Rakyat Indonsia (-3.5%), and Kalbe Farma (-4%). Among gainers were Matahari Putra Prima (+8.29%), Vidi Media (+1.85%), BW Plantation (+1.53%), and London Sumatra (+3.24%).
Nymex’s crude oil declined 0.28% to US$98.76 per barrel while gold rebounded 0.28% to US$1,196.90 per ounce. The rupiah weakened further to Rp12,245 against the US Dollar.
