JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Constitutional Court is expected on Thursday (Nov. 14) to rule on a legal battle over the disputed Maluku gubernatorial election, but amok of the losing candidate’s supporters forced the eight judges of the Court to evacuate the court, then the trial was postponed.

Tens of people allegedly identified as supporters from Herman Adrian Koedoeboen and his running mate Daud Sangadji reportedly started to ran amok in the court room just after panel of constitutional judges rejected their lawsuit.

“The Constitutional Court is thief,” shouted the mass repeatedly.

The mass then thrown off chairs and destroyed properties of the court room but then the police officers came and controlled the situation.

The verdict trial led by new Chief Justice Hamdan Zoelva was started since 10.30 am of Jakarta time, conducted amidst public distrust to the court following investigation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on bribery and corruption allegations related in the handling of post elections disputes which dragged the disgraced dismissed Chief Justice Akil Mochtar as suspect.

The Maluku gubernatorial election enters the second round, scheduled to be held next month. Abdullah Vanath and his running mate Marten Maspaitella will compete with incumbent Vice Governor Said Assagaff and his running mate Zeth Sahuburua.
