JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The puddles of water spread in the streets across the capital city of Jakarta following heavy rain Friday (Nov. 8) and poor drainage system have exacerbated the gridlock from the Friday’s traffic.
This should have been sending an early warning for the city’s administration under Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Vice Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama (Jokohok) to take more efforts in anticipating upcoming flood in medio December 2013 to January 2014 which could severe and even paralyzed the city’s traffic.
Early this year, flood hitting the city had not just paralyzed the traffic, but even the city itself.
Based on Yosefardi field report and the Traffic Management Centre of Jakarta Police Department (TMC Polda Metro Jaya), the Friday’s traffic within the city in all main roads and arterial roads were very crowded.
The crowded were seen at some areas such as Bunderan HI to Semanggi, Rasuna Said to Mampang, Tendean to Mampang, Lebak Bulus to Cinere, Mangga Dua to Gunung Sahari, TB Simatupang to Ragunan, TB Simatupang to Pasar Rebo, Fatmawati to Pondok Labu, Gandaria to Pondok Indah, Senen to Salemba Raya, Grogol to Pancoran.
The dreadful traffic also occurred on the toll roads within the city.
The height of the puddle and water on Jakarta’s roads reportedly reached between 20 to 30 centimeters. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
