JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) today revealed Indonesian economy grew by 5.62% in third quarter of this year, with gross domestic product (GDP) reached Rp2,375.3 trillion.
Compared to second quarter, the economy grew by 2.96%. Year to date, the economy grew by 5.83%, equal to the same period of last year.
Transportation and communication sectors grew by 10.46% year-on-year in third quarter of this year, the highest growth among the sectors. Compared to second quarter, the highest growth came from agriculture, farming, forestry, and fishery. This sector grew by 6.16% on quarter-on-quarter basis.
On spending side, government spending increased 15.21%, household spending rose 2.92%, and fixed capital formation (gross) increased 2.85%.
Java island contributed 58.2% of national GDP, followed by Sumatera (23.75%), Kalimantan (8.45%), Sulawesi (4.87%), and other islands (4.73%).
