JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Ahmad Fathanah, graft defendant and known as aide of former PKS Chairman Luthfi Hasaan Ishaq, has been sentenced for 14 years in prison, lighter than the prosecutors’ demand of 17.5 years, related to graft and money laundering case in beef import quota.

The panel of judges of the Jakarta Corruption Court, in its verdict read on Monday (Nov. 4) night, also ordered Fathanah Buhari to pay Rp1 billion in fines which can be substituted with six months imprisonment.

According to panel of judges, Fathanah was proven guilty for being involved in corruption act stipulated in Article 12 of Corruption Law No.31/1999 on Corruption. This law has been amended with Law No. 20/2001, juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).

Panel of judge also said Fathanah was proven guilty for being involved in money laundering act which stipulated in Article 3 of Money Laundering Law No. 8/2010. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
