JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Political parties continue demanding the General Election Commission (KPU) to postpone the release of the final list of voters (DPT) scheduled on Monday (Nov. 4). If confirmed, it could be the third postponement in the last four weeks.

PDI-P and Gerindra, two among political parties highly suggested KPU to postpone the release, argued that the postponement for another two weeks could help KPU to address the problems and provide an accurate data of voters. They even warn to file a report against KPU to the Supervisory Election Body (Bawaslu).

As reported earlier, KPU insisted to release the final list of voters neglecting millions of problematic registered voters in the current list.

Latest, KPU itself actually revealed about 10.4 million registered voters without NIK (the new identity number). While political parties, including PDI-P, revealed that, based on their findings, for three provinces some 8.5 million eligible voters were not yet registered in the current list of voters compiled by KPU.

Worries abound questioning the accuracy of the list of voters compiled by KPU as the current problematic list of voters could harm the outcome of next year’s legislative and presidential elections if the KPU insisted to releasing the list this afternoon.

Previously, KPU has postponed the release of final list of voters from Oct. 13 to Oct 23 for only to be postponed again to Nov. 4. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
