JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Prabowo Subianto’s Gerindra Party targets to collect 30% votes in 2014 legislative election.
Suhardi, Chairman of Gerindra Party, claimed that the target is possible to reach as referring to various recent surveys.
Similar optimism is also expressed by Gerindra Party patron leader Prabowo Subianto. The retiree military general, who celebrated his 62th anniversary Thursday (October 17), expects Gerindra could win the legislative election.
Gerindra eyes a significant votes in 2014 legislative election to pass the presidential threshold and secure one ticket of the presidential race for Prabowo.
Since the House of Representatives (DPR) stopped the discussion on the amendment plan of the Presidential Election Law No.42/2008, then the presidential threshold for 2014 presidential race will be remain 20% of national votes or 25% of parliamentary seats.
Gerindra’s approval rating indeed soared in various surveys. But their approval rating has not yet reached 20%. Gerindra’s target to harvest 30% votes is actually higher than Democratic Party (15% of votes), and PDI-P (27%). Golkar Party also targets 30% of votes.
Gerindra is currently the second smallest party in the DPR with only 26 seats or 4.46% from 560 seats. Gerindra only secured 4.46% votes in previous general election. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
