JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Amid public doubts, Chief of the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) Police Commissioner General Sutarman, had on Thursday (October 17), taken a fit and proper test in the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III as the sole candidate for a new Chief of National Police.

38 from 53 members of the House Commission III attended on fit and proper test session.

As reported earlier, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has nominated Sutarman as the sole candidate for a new Chief of National Police replacing Police General Timur Pradopo.

However, observers and anti-corruption activists expressed their doubts and pessimisms over Sutarman’s nomination as Sutarman has remarkable achievement or special track record.

Sutarman, during his tenure at Bareskrim, have delayed the process of some cases, including conflict between Bareskrim and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), in the handling of graft case related to the procurement of driving simulator for the national police. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
