JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Popular Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, popularly known as Ahok, made a joke in front of tens of elementary students and teachers saying he basically prefers to become a governor.
Ahok made this joke when he received the visit of 70 students from Global Jaya International Elementary School at the city hall Thursday (Sept 26).
“I even want to be a governor,” said Ahok jokingly when answered the student’s question. “As a State officer, I can help more a lot of people with my programs.”
It’s not the first time for Ahok on expressing his wishing to become a governor. He had also supported popular Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo to run for next year’s presidential election.
In a meeting with Rotterdam Mayor early this week, Ahok said Jokowi better becomes a President of Indonesia so as Jokowi could help him in solving problems of Jakarta city.
People of Indonesia are trying to catch massages from every statement made by Ahok on Jokowi’s possibility to run in the next year’s presidential race.
Some people hopefully expect the dynamic duo (Jokowi-Ahok) to as Presidential and Vice Presidential pair due to their cohesiveness and collectiveness in managing the capital city.
However, Ahok’s Gerindra Party has declared its patron leader, Prabowo Subianto, to take a stand in the next year’s presidential election as president candidate. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
