Jakarta (Yosefardi) – Gumilar Rusliwa Soemantri, former Rector of University of Indonesia (UI), has been examined for the second time by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a graft case related to Rp21 billion (US$2.1 million) development project of an information technology center at the university’s library for the budget period of 2010-2011. KPK has targeted to name more suspects in the case.
When arrived at KPK’s building on Wednesday (September 18) morning, Gumilar was reluctant to explain the tender project when asked by reporters.
Priharsa Nugraha, KPK’s news coverage, meanwhile, explained that Gumilar has been examined as witness for the outgoing UI Deputy Rector Tafsir Nurchamid, a suspect in the case.
On Tuesday, KPK has also summoned and examined Donanta Dhaneswara (UI Director of Facility )and Lien Indriana (UI Director of Finance), as witnesses.
Previously, KPK had also examined Fisy Amalia (Director of PT Nestindo Inter Buana) and Irawan Widjaya (Director PT Dewi Perdana Internasional).
Furthermore, KPK had raided the University of Indonesia’s rectorate building to search for evidence of the involvement of the suspect in this graft case.
Abraham Samad, the Chief of KPK, has previously stated that the Commission opened for the new potential suspects in the case. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
